VISA CHAMPIONS CREATING CHAMPIONS

Visa Champions Creating Champions is dedicated to inspiring and empowering young athletes to be bold and confident in their lives and sports through the mentorship of Olympic and National team athletes.

In the second season of our program, we will match 25 local Park City and Salt Lake City youth with their athlete heroes. Our goal is to encourage teamwork, dedication, goal setting, and life confidence in young athletes in order to build a strong foundation of future Olympians and community leaders.

The Visa Champions Creating Champions program will begin again in June 2004. Throughout the season, Visa Champions Creating Champions will hold several gatherings, which are designed to encourage growth of the mentor/mentee relationship and will take place at Utah Athletic Foundation (UAF) athletic venues. At these events, mentors and mentees will participate in fun teambuilding activities and mentorship pair competitions.

History
Visa Champions Creating Champions was created by U.S. Ski Team athlete Emily Cook, with support from Visa and the Utah Athletic Foundation. Emily believed that she could make a difference in the lives of young athletes just as her mentors had positively influenced her in the past. She dreamt of creating a program where older, world-class athletes could support young athletes in their sport by mentoring them and developing a relationship of encouragement and strength. That dream came true when 34 Olympic and national team athletes were matched with Park City and Salt Lake City youth in a mentoring program in September 2002.
