Learn To Speed Skate
Feeling the need for speed? Well you've come to the right place. As you may already know the Utah Olympic Oval is home to the "The Fastest Ice on Earth", and our learn to speed skate classes are designed to take you to speeds you never dreamed! Our classes are open to any age and are best suited for those individuals who have basic skating skills.

Learn to Speed Skate - Long Track
Tuesday & Thursdays - 5:00-5:45pm


Nov 18 – Dec 9 (skips Nov 27) Tue & Thur 5:00-5:45pm
J anuary 6 – 22: Tue & Thur 5:00-5:45pm
February 3 – 19: Tue & Thur 5:00-5:45pm
March 10 – 26: Tue & Thur 5:00-5:45pm

Learn to Speed Skate - Short Track
Wednesdays - 7:00-7:45pm

Nov 26th, Dec 3, 10, 17, Jan 7, 14 (no class on Dec 24 or 31)
Jan 21, 28, Feb 4, 11, 18, 25

Oval will provide evaluation containing student's progress and placement into proper STEP program level.
Cost ($45) includes skates, helmets, and coaching.

Class will cover:
Basic speed skating position
Learn the proper body position which will allow for minimal wind resistance while maximizing power output.

Weight transfer
Learn to utilize your own body weight in order to achieve maximum velocity.

Push/Stride Execution
Learn the proper direction and angle in your push; maximizing efficiency and speed.

Arm Swing
Learn the proper arm swing and how it contributes further to power output and overall skating efficiency.

Crossovers
Learn to crossover while locking into a stable body position.

Starts
Learn a powerful and quick starting technique that will achieve maximum acceleration.
